Description
This is a painterly rendition of a film photograph I took on a trip to England almost 20 years ago. I was utterly fascinated by Stonehenge and the surrounding area and hope to return one day!
Stonehenge is one of the most famous megalithic monuments in the world. It's also one of the most mysterious, with its prehistoric concentric rings garnering plenty of speculation as to why and how they were constructed. It is located on a chalky plain north of the modern-day city of Salisbury, England. Research shows that the site has continuously evolved over a period of about 10,000 years. The structure that we call “Stonehenge” was built between roughly 5,000 and 4,000 years ago and that forms just one part of a larger, and highly complex, sacred landscape.
